Located in the eastern part of Porto, the Junta de Freguesia do Bonfim (Bonfim Parish Council) is an active and culturally engaged local authority that plays a vital role in supporting artistic, educational, and community initiatives within its territory. The parish is home to a diverse population and a growing number of independent cultural spaces, artist-run platforms, and local associations, making it a vibrant context for experimentation and civic engagement. The Faculdade de Belas Artes da Universidade do Porto (FBAUP) is situated within the Bonfim district and maintains a long-standing relationship with the Parish Council, grounded in shared values of cultural accessibility, public engagement, and social responsibility. This collaboration has given rise to various initiatives that connect students, artists, and researchers with the local community, through exhibitions, workshops, artistic residencies, and collaborative projects in public space. These partnerships aim to strengthen ties between academic and civic spheres, encouraging participatory approaches to art and education, and fostering a more inclusive and creative urban environment. Within the YES project, the Bonfim Parish has provided both logistical and institutional support, recognising the transformative potential of contemporary art in addressing local and global challenges.
