LATVIJAS MĀKSLAS AKADĒMIJA (AAL)


The Art Academy of Latvia, that was established in 1919, is a leading higher education institution and research competence center in art and design regionally, in Latvia and in Europe. It provides enabling conditions for artistic creation and scientific research. The Academy offers study programs for bachelor’s and master’s degrees in visual arts, design, audiovisual media art, history and theory of art. AAL also proposes an academic and practice-based arts third cycle degree, equivalent to a PhD program. AAL has 700 students 250 staff employees. All faculties are headed by elected professors of the Academy, artists, and recognized field experts.
